Sidney P. Blum, Partner
Sidney Blum leads the firm's Royalty and Contract Audit and Litigation Support practices. He is a leading authority in licensing, royalty and other third party auditing and he also has extensive experience with internal audit services and forensic investigations.
Mr. Blum helped create the Contract Compliance Services practice for a Big Four accounting firm where he was a partner for approximately five years. Mr. Blum wrote the royalty audit methodology for two of the Big Four accounting firms and as a partner, wrote the firm's global Contract Compliance Services methodology, Most Favored Nation audit methodology and advertising agency methodology. His book, Financial Elements of Contracts: Drafting, Monitoring & Compliance Audits (Oxford University Press - 2010) is recognized as a leading source for lawyers, licensors and auditors on licensing compliance.
Mr. Blum has written numerous articles and provided seminars on royalty auditing for various organizations concerning intellectual property and royalty auditing including the California State Bar, LIMA, LES, LINK, USC, IPO, LAIPLA and the AUTM. He has audited over $8 billion of royalties resulting in significant dollars of findings and other non-monetary benefits while maintaining key relationships. He has performed royalty audits for many different industries including: apparel, consumer products, software, media, entertainment, government, medical device, pharmaceutical, high technology, toys, oil & gas, team sports, individuals, internet, and various brands.
Sid is has been retained on numerous occasions as a general damages expert witness and was a Fortune 100 internal auditor for more than seven years.
Sid is a Certified Public Accountant (NY & CA), a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Fellow with the American College of Forensics Examiners Institute, a Diplomate with the American Board of Forensic Accountants, a Registered Investigator SM, Certified Forensic Accountant, a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor and Certified in Financial Forensics by the AICPA.
