GHJ Foundation runs on staff involvement. GHJ employees volunteer to serve on the rotating Grants Committees that convenes in the Spring and Fall. This allows for individuals from different departments, with diverse experiences, to share their perspectives in the grantee selection process.

To develop the final list of grantees in the recent COVID-19 grants cycle, the Grants Committee brainstormed funding priorities and selected three top areas of need in response to COVID-19: food insecurity, educational resources and homelessness. Each Grants Committee member then identified nonprofits in GHJ's community as potential grant recipients, performed due diligence and presented his or her top choice to the Grants Committee with a recommendation for funding. The Grants Committee collectively voted to approve the grantees and the amount of each grant.
