Peter Petrousian, JD, Tax LLM, has over six years of experience providing state and local tax and indirect tax services to multistate and closely held businesses. He specializes in gross receipt-based taxes, including the Los Angeles City Business License, San Francisco Gross Receipts, and Washington Business and Occupations Tax.
Peter works closely with clients to understand the nuances of their business operations and tax footprint, supporting them in addressing complex state and local tax requirements through practical, solution-focused guidance. He serves clients across industries, including emerging growth companies and those in manufacturing, media, professional services and technology. Peter specializes in state and local tax consulting, including nexus and exposure studies, income and gross receipts tax matters, local business taxes, voluntary disclosures, audit support, and apportionment and sourcing analyses.
Peter brings a practical, strategic approach to reducing tax risk and identifying opportunities by gaining clarity on businesses’ compliance obligations. He is passionate about simplifying complex tax rules and building long-term trusted relationships with clients.
Prior to joining GHJ in 2026, Peter worked for a top 20 professional services firm in its local tax practice.
Peter graduated from the University of California Los Angeles, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in History. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate and Tax LLM from Loyola Law School. Peter is currently an active member of the California State Bar, and he participates in continuing legal education training for the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education.
