To discuss her journey from growing up in the Democratic Republic of Congo to being the first in her family to earn a college degree, Astride Mukabagula, an audit professional at GHJ, was recently featured in NewsAccount, the official publication of the Colorado Society of CPAs (COCPA).

In the COCPA article, Astride shared her powerful story — fleeing political persecution in the Democratic Republic of Congo and becoming a first-generation college graduate and licensed CPA in the U.S. Her feature focused on the role of academia, mentorship and community, all of which she attributed to shaping her professional success.

SPEAKER IN THE DENVER COMMUNITY

In addition to being featured in print, Astride served as a panel speaker at Colorado Mesa University’s 2025 Gold Key Award event hosted by COCPA. She spoke to aspiring accounting students, sharing her path into public accounting and encouraging future professionals to embrace their potential — particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.
