LOS ANGELES, CA (Dec. 22, 2020) – GHJ, a leading accounting and advisory firm, is pleased to announce that Partners Anant Patel and Satpal Nagpal were recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as “Thriving in Their 40s.”

Every year the Los Angeles Business Journal recognize a list of dynamic Los Angeles business leaders in their 40s. Nominated individuals are reviewed by a selection committee that is looking for strong leadership, mentorship and professional achievements, both inside and outside of their firms.

In wake of COVID-19, GHJ’s leadership has had to adapt to a new business environment. It is through the efforts of practice leaders such as Anant and Satpal that GHJ has been able to develop innovative new ways to serve clients in a remote environment and meet their changing needs.

About Anant Patel, Partner
Anant Patel, CPA, has over 25 years of public accounting experience and leads both the Firm’s Advisory Services Practice and Transaction Advisory Services Practice and is a member of the Executive Committee for GHJ. He advises in the area of mergers and acquisitions and provides financial due diligence consulting such as quality of earnings, working capital analysis, EBITDA analysis and projections and deal structuring. Anant has assisted on deals ranging from $20 million to $500 million and is a Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA).
He provides audit and accounting, tax and general business consulting services. His industry experience includes closely held companies in food and beverage, entertainment, media and technology, manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, consumer products and real estate. Many of Anant’s clients are owned by Private Equity Groups, VCs and institutional investors.
Additionally, Anant is the Global Chair of the HLB’s (the world-wide accounting network GHJ is a member of) Transaction Advisory Group. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors and is the Chairman of the Board of Step Up on Second. Due to his impact on the community and accounting industry, Anant was recognized as a 2018 and 2019 “Most Influential Private Equity Investors and Advisors,” a 2018-2020 “Most Influential Minority CPA,” a 2019-2020 “Leader of Influence in Private Equity Advisory” and multiple times as a “Top 40 in 40s” by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Prior to joining GHJ in 2000, Anant worked for six years at a national accounting firm, which was a member of HLB and located in England. He graduated, with honors, from the University of Leeds, England, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. Anant is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Anant previously owned and managed a number of family-owned retail businesses. Anant and his family reside in Valencia located in Santa Clarita. Anant is an avid sports fan, especially soccer, and enjoys a wide variety of music.
About Satpal Nagpal, Partner
Satpal Nagpal, CPA, is GHJ’s Audit and Assurance Practice leader and has more than 20 years of public accounting experience providing audit, accounting and general business consulting services. His industry experience includes nonprofit organizations and closely held entities operating in a wide variety of industries including waste management and recycling, distribution, real estate and home building, e-commerce and entertainment. Satpal is an integral part of GHJ’s Waste Management Group and Nonprofit Practice.
Since joining GHJ in 2003, Satpal has led the implementation of a number of new technologies in recent years that have helped GHJ’s Audit and Assurance Practice become more efficient and effective. Satpal represents a succession strategy, change management and a different way of thinking, which as a firm, GHJ understands is crucial for succeeding as a business. He champions GHJ’s commitment to the nonprofit sector and to building a next-generation firm.
Additionally, Satpal is passionate about the education sector and serves on the board of Synergy Academies. Satpal has lectured at the Hebrew Union College and at the Riordan Volunteer Leadership Development Program on a nonprofit financial management course and has participated at the round table conference for guiding USC Masters of Accounting and Taxation students in making career decisions.
Additionally, in 2020, Satpal was named a “Most Influential Minority CPA” by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Satpal graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai, India. Satpal also has two graduate degrees: a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of Commerce from the University of Mumbai, India. He is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Satpal resides in El Segundo with his wife and two sons. He is a keen follower of cricket and tennis. He also enjoys traveling and listening to Bollywood music.
