Corporate leaders have a call to action beyond their day-to-day business operations, and it is one that includes supporting their communities. In a recent Los Angeles Business Journal article, GHJ’s Nonprofit Tax Practice Leader Lizbeth Nevarez discusses how corporate leaders can support nonprofits beyond financial contributions. The article highlights that businesses can strengthen nonprofit organizations while creating meaningful engagement opportunities for their workforce by encouraging employees to volunteer their skills, serve on nonprofit boards and share professional expertise.

ABOUT LIZBETH NEVAREZ

Lizbeth, CPA, has more than 15 years of public accounting experience providing tax and consulting services. She is a frequent speaker on nonprofit tax issues and serves on numerous nonprofit boards. Lizbeth is also the Secretary of GHJ Foundation, GHJ’s vehicle for purposeful and proactive giving to the community. She currently co-sponsors GHJ’s Women’s Empowerment Cohort, which is part of GHJ’s DEIA initiative. 

Through these various initiatives and involvement, Lizbeth has a front row seat to the ways in which corporate business leaders and nonprofits work together to improve their communities. She lends this unique perspective to the work she does inside and out of the office.
