Wildfire disasters and new business regulations have put California businesses at risk this year — and in the face of adversity, leaders must remain adaptable.

Frances Ellington Gutierrez, GHJ’s State and Local Tax Practice leader, was featured in the Los Angeles Business Journal to address recent tax changes, proposals and opportunities for California business leaders. She discussed existing wildfire recovery bills, a proposal to increase California’s Film Tax Credit and more.

In her role, Frances focuses on multistate income and franchise tax, indirect tax, and credits and incentives. She consults clients on state and local tax issues related to tax audit controversy, nexus and reporting requirements, and various state tax planning initiatives. Frances has extensive state and local tax experience at Big Four firms and multinational corporations.

The Los Angeles Business Journal article, “Los Angeles’ Economic Outlook: How Tax Policy Impacts Businesses,” provides actionable insights for California leaders this year.
