GHJ Leaders to Present Brewery Finance Course

GHJ’s Tax Practice Leader Akash Sehgal and Beverage Practice Leader Maria Pearman will appear in an upcoming webinar on Tax Strategies for Breweries. Hosted by Strafford, this webinar takes place June 16 at 10 a.m. PST and is eligible for CPE credit for accountants.

This course examines the business and regulatory environment for breweries, how breweries should create an optimal business model, tax-saving opportunities and planning for a tax-efficient exit.

Akash has deep expertise in multistate income and franchise tax, sales and use tax and credits and incentives. He works with a number of beverage manufacturers and also leads GHJ’s research and development credit outsourcing initiative and works closely with specialized research and development credit firms.

Maria specializes in internal accounting processes, financial reviews, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial strategy and succession planning. She sits on the Finance Committee for the Brewers Association and on the Advisory Board for The Bruery, an LA-based brewery with nationwide distribution. In 2019, Maria wrote the book Small Brewery Finance to help small businesses run more successful breweries.
