GHJ Leaders Recognized at Women’s Leadership Awards

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 19, 2024) – GHJ, a national advisory and accounting firm, is proud to announce that Profit Participation Services Managing Director Anita Wu and GHJ Nonprofit Tax Practice Leader Lizbeth Nevarez were recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal at its Women’s Leadership Awards. Anita was nominated for the Champion of Women Award and Lizbeth was a finalist for the Community Impact Advocate Award.

“Congratulations to Anita and Lizbeth for their well-deserved recognition at the Women's Leadership Awards,” said GHJ Managing Partner Tom Barry. “Their impact on their communities and on the lives of their colleagues not only exemplifies GHJ’s core values but also actively shapes a more inclusive and supportive business landscape. GHJ is lucky to have leaders like Anita and Lizbeth who inspire our team to explore their passions and make meaningful contributions beyond their professional roles.”

GHJ strongly believes people do their best work when they are empowered to #BeMore for themselves, their families and the firm. When individuals are able to live their best personal lives, they bring their best selves to their professional endeavors.

Both of their leadership in driving DEIA initiatives at GHJ in the community exemplify how personal passions can profoundly impact professional excellence and community well-being.

Anita is a member of GHJ’s Profit Participation Services Practice and has more than 25 years of auditing experience within the entertainment industry. She enjoys working with innovators and pioneers in the entertainment industry and collaborating with clients as a means towards getting the best results.

Anita has played a pivotal role in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) within GHJ, and in particular in serving as a Champion of Women. Her leadership in founding the Women's Empowerment Cohort has catalyzed significant DEIA initiatives at the firm, transforming it into a beacon of empowerment for women in the accounting industry. As a member of GHJ’s DEIA Steering Committee, Anita’s efforts have led to the creation of GHJ’s BIPOC and Parenting Cohorts to foster an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and promotes gender and racial equity.

Lizbeth leads GHJ’s Nonprofit Tax Practice and has more than 15 years of public accounting experience providing tax and consulting services. She enjoys being a resource for a wide array of nonprofits so they can meet their missions and continue to provide their program services.

Lizbeth has distinguished herself through her extensive volunteer work as a Community Impact Advocate. She currently serves on the boards of the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, which supports the socio-economic betterment of the greater Latino community of California while preserving the pride, values and heritage of Mexican-American culture, and Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, which provides free legal assistance to nearly 160,000 individuals and families throughout Los Angeles County every year.
