LOS ANGELES, CA (April 6, 2021) – GHJ, a leading accounting and advisory firm, was named the No. 9 “Firm to Watch” and No. 15 “Top Regional Leader in the West” on Accounting Today’s 2021 Top 100 Firms list. This is the sixth time GHJ has received this recognition in each category.
GHJ was selected as a result of the Firm’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), strategic move to downtown Los Angeles and brand refresh, launch of the GHJ Foundation and its strong commitment to assist clients with business disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized again,” said GHJ Managing Partner Tom Barry. “The past year has provided many challenges, but with challenges, come opportunities. I am proud of the strategic innovation and leadership our team brings every day, and I look forward to a bright future.”
In the wake of the pandemic, GHJ responded by shifting its focus to help clients navigate the business disruption. GHJ helped its clients successfully navigate the CARES Act, Main Street Lending Programs, PPP loans and SBA loans from application to forgiveness, along with numerous changes to tax laws.
Additionally, in 2020, GHJ launched GHJ Foundation, the firm’s vehicle for purposeful and proactive giving. The Foundation supports the community through financial contributions and volunteerism. In 2020 alone, GHJ Foundation donated approximately $125,000 to community organizations. Additionally, GHJ Foundation launched an internal COVID-19 matching campaign, and employees donated over $17,000, which was doubled by GHJ Foundation, to support COVID-19 efforts in the community.
“I am unbelievably proud of GHJ’s accomplishments and to work for a firm that is as passionate about serving its clients as it is about giving back to the community,” said GHJ Partner and Chief Strategy Officer Mari-Anne Kehler. “It is more important than ever to lift up our clients and community.”
GHJ continues to push boundaries and redefine what it means to be “an accounting firm.” This year, GHJ strategically relocated its headquarters to downtown Los Angeles in addition to going through a brand refresh to update both its name and logo. The new headquarters and branding helps GHJ better promote its culture and connect with the global community it serves. The Firm’s new central location provides better access to clients and gives employees a renewed sense of opportunity. The updated name and branding better reflects the Firm’s core values, vision and modern and inclusive culture.
Amongst all the changes, GHJ remains committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. The Firm continues to invest in programs and initiatives that support DEI efforts. GHJ’s Women’s Empowerment and BIPOC cohorts have been powerful collaborators for change.
“Our collective diversity of thoughts, backgrounds and experiences are what makes GHJ a place where employees can thrive — together,” Kehler said. “We are deeply committed to building a successful firm that reflects the rich diversity of the people in the communities we serve.”
In addition, as a member of HLB International, a worldwide network of independent accounting firms and business advisers, GHJ has able to partner with other top firms across major cities throughout the U.S. and the world. This affiliation has allowed GHJ to better serve and give clients access to global resources.
“Being a trusted advisor for our clients is the ultimate measure of our success,” Barry said. “We are always striving to #BeMore. Being recognized as a ‘Top Firm’ is a testament to our commitment to serve our clients and community.”
