GHJ NextGen Leader Named “Young Accountant of the Year” at International Accounting Awards

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 30, 2023) – GHJ, a national advisory and accounting firm, is proud to announce that GHJ Senior Manager Christina Fung was named Young Accountant of the Year at the International Accounting Forum and Awards in London. Additionally, HLB, the global advisory and accounting network that GHJ is part of, was a finalist for Network of the Year.

“Christina is an emerging leader in the Forensic Practice, and she is so deserving of this award,” said GHJ Forensic Services Practice Leader Peter Brown. “She is an accomplished forensic accountant and a dynamic leader. We are excited to see what she does next.”

As part of GHJ’s Forensic Services Practice, Christina conducts investigations and complex studies on behalf of her clients, supporting them through any issues that may threaten their business. She specifically assists with litigation support and forensic and fraud investigations.

In addition to her work with clients, Christina leads important discussions in the Firm as a co-chair of GHJ’s women’s Empowerment Cohort. This group teaches team members of all backgrounds to better support each other and build allyship in the accounting industry.

HLB was also honored at the International Accounting Forum and Awards, being shortlisted for Digital Innovation of the Year and Network of the Year, which they previously won in 2022 and 2020.

ABOUT CHRISTINA FUNG

Christina Fung, CPA, ABV, CFE, is a member of GHJ’s Forensic Services Practice. She assists with litigation support, forensic and fraud investigations and supports clients with issues that may threaten their business. She has become an influential voice at GHJ and a well-respected emerging leader, receiving two promotions in her three years at the firm and helping develop and nurture a strong team under her guidance.

Christina leads important discussions as a co-leader of GHJ’s Women’s Empowerment Cohort about how team members of all backgrounds can better support each other and build allyship in the accounting industry. As a co-leader, she drives the cohort’s programming, which can include guest speakers, group activities and external events.

As part of GHJ’s Forensic Services Practice, Christina conducts investigations and complex studies on behalf of clients. Her experience includes numerous complex issues including post-acquisition disputes, business valuations and lost profit calculations. This work spans many industries including technology, entertainment, real estate, healthcare and gaming. Passionate about leading others to excel, Christina works closely with the rest of the Forensic Services Team to guide them through projects and offer essential oversight.

In 2021, Christina volunteered as a professional mentor for Braven, an organization that provides one-on-one coaching and mentoring with low-income first-generation college students. Christina served as a mentor through one 12-week term, meeting with her mentee weekly to navigate the job search and application process.

At GHJ, Christina serves as an accountant, manager and mentor. Her hard work has made a difference in the lives of her clients, team members and colleagues in other departments. In three short years at the Firm, she has made significant contributions to raising GHJ’s high level of service and deepening its culture.
