GHJ is excited to announce the launch of GHJ Foundation. GHJ Foundation is the Firm’s vehicle for purposeful and proactive giving to its extended “family” – the community. Led by President and Chief Philanthropy Officer Donella Wilson, Treasurer Tom Barry, Secretary Lizbeth Nevarez and Strategist Mari-Anne Kehler, GHJ Foundation will provide the Firm a vehicle to support nonprofits and causes important to the community.
“I am excited to have the Firm launch this important initiative,” explained Wilson, who also leads the Firm’s Nonprofit Practice. “Giving back is in our DNA, so creating GHJ Foundation strengthens our commitment to the nonprofit community.”
GHJ Foundation will raise funds through Firm contributions, individual partner/retired partner contributions and individual staff member contributions. With these raised funds, GHJ Foundation will provide sponsorships for philanthropic events, make non-event cash philanthropic contributions, support community service day, provide matching employee contributions, sponsor community volunteering and provide learning and development opportunities for staff through its membership of Southern California Grantmakers.
“We have always supported nonprofits, both professionally through our Nonprofit Practice and financially through contributions and volunteering, and I am proud we can do our part to support those in need, especially right now during COVID-19 and with the economic ramifications of the shutdown,” explained Barry, who is also the Managing Partner at GHJ. “Nonprofits matter now more than ever, and our support can help effect positive change.”
Just recently, GHJ Foundation launched an internal COVID-19 matching campaign, and employees donated over $17,000, which was doubled by GHJ Foundation, to donate to support COVID-19 efforts. A special Grants Committee has convened to disburse the funds raised and distribute them to COVID-19-related causes based on need. This is the first step in what the Firm hopes will be a long-term impact for the local community.
